Kalvos & Damian Ought-One Festival

August 25-26, 2001

This page is superseded, as the Festival was moved to Montpelier.

Concert Stages, Page 1

There are two outdoor concert stages and one main seating areas. The upper stage is actually two stages: One sets back and is completely enclosed (about 15x25 feet) and the other protrudes out from the building (about 10x20 feet). The main stage will be built in front of WGDR's transmission tower, and will be roughly 16x24 feet. The audience sits in the natural ampitheatre which, depending on the size of the audience members, can seat 100-200 people; additional seating is possible on the high berm (not visible in the photographs). The walking access from other areas is provided down a gravel path, and the path past installations toward the Haybarn Theatre is between the main stage and the ampitheatre. Access to the WGDR studios is next to the main stage (which will also be a setup area for performers), and access to the Atrium is via a door to the library. We may keep this door closed and provide access through the main library doors (above the ampitheatre) to keep outside sound from interfering with the Atrium concerts.

180-degree view of stages and ampitheatre

In these photos, the stages and seating area look small. They are not ... for purposes of scale, consider that the fence protecting the transmission tower is over eight feet high.

The distribution of performances to the upper and lower stages has not yet been developed. We're thinking that performers who need extensive setup time can do it out of sight of the audience from a curtain on the upper stages.
